Each year the class, in conjunction with a local club, organises a championship regatta. This is usually over a long weekend (Friday to Sunday) near the beginning of September with two races back-to-back each day. The race area is situated in the open expanse of Falmouth Bay. Courses are bespoke Windward-Leeward to laid marks. Trophies and prizes are awarded for each race as well as overall.
2019 is the 95th anniversary of the class being established in Falmouth. The championship in this special year has been extended to four days from Thursday 5th to Sunday 8th September. It is also planned to precede the championships with a shakedown "fun" race around the estuary on Tuesday, and team racing against visiting boats from Itchenor on Wednesday.
Race documents will appear here in due course.
Hine Downing Trophy
Also in conjunction with a local club, the class organises a series of races for a silver goblet dating from Falmouth Regatta 1839. Innovative race formats have been pioneered over the years, notably self-sufficient gate starts to eliminate the need for a committee boat.
In 2019 it is likely that the trophy will be combined with the new RCYC Classic Keelboat Regatta on Friday 12th and Saturday 13th July.
