Started a separate topic as I couldn’t work out how to start a new thread.

Based on observations and racing against Misty for most of the summer and latterly Tiffany, my perception is that there is very little difference in the speed of a glass boat over a wooden boat and the biggest variables are the rig, sails and crew.

There are a number of us in the class who sailed a St Mawes OD and a similar debate raged about whether a Frankie Peter’s boat was better than a later Jon Leach built boat. My conclusion looking back on 20 years in that class was no difference other than the crew and to a lesser extent the sails.

I think Falmouth Week and the Champs have confirmed that, as the relative positions of Misty and Tiffany demonstrate.

I would have no issue with allowing Glass boats in Falmouth as I think it will essentially come down to maintenance and preference. For me there is no competition, I grew up sailing wooden one designs and I have always and will always sail a wooden boat.
